Mathematics
Becroft Academy mathematics tutoring covers beginner mathematics to senior school algebra, geometry, statistics, probability, and more. Regardless of whether a student is just beginning their mathematics journey, needs to revise previous work, and or wants to learn a new topic, our mathematics tutoring provide opportunities to help them succeed.
Language & Literacy
Becroft Academy language and literacy tutoring is designed for year 1 students and continues through to Year 6. We will develop a tailor-made course for your child to meet their individual needs. These needs will be identified during the initial assessment. Language and literacy tutoring covers reading, comprehension, phonics, writing, spelling and grammar.
Science
Science helps us understand the world around us. Many of the major challenges and opportunities that confront our world need to be approached from a scientific perspective. However, at times the simplest of questions may have the most complex answers. At Becroft Academy, we aim to cultivate students’ interests and develop their ability to analyse problems through interactive learning.
Social Science
Through the social sciences, students explore “how societies work and how they themselves can participate and take action as critical, informed, and responsible citizens”, (The New Zealand Curriculum, page 17).
Technology
The Ministry of Education made a number of changes to this curriculum area. The goal of these changes was to ensure that all learners know about digital technologies and understand the decisions people make when they use them and create them. The Becroft Academy is passionate about technology and providing learning plans for students to become innovative designers
The Arts
The arts are powerful forms of expression that recognise, value and contribute to the unique bicultural and multicultural character of Aotearoa New Zealand. The arts learning area has four disciplines: dance, drama, music – sound art, and visual arts. If you have a passion for one or more of these areas The Becroft Academy can help.
Coding
Coding helps your child develop academic skills along with critical life skills like organisation, perseverance and problem-solving. Furthermore, it has been proven that learning to code improves maths skills. The Becroft Academy will develop your child’s understanding of coding using Swift and ScratchPad.
